"2021 Pastourelle de Clerc Milon"
Clerc Milon, a legendary terroir, two prestigious neighbours and a providential encounter.
The terroir is that of Pauillac, where some of the world’s finest wines are made.
The neighbours are Mouton Rothschild and Lafite Rothschild, illustrious First Growths whose nearby vines can be seen from the terrace of the Château.
The encounter was with Baron Philippe, who in 1970 acquired the then badly neglected estate and decided to restore it to its status as a Classified Growth.
The Pastourelle is a traditional dance which evokes a knight's romantic encounter with a shepherdess: the name echoes the pair of dancers that adorn the label of the Grand Vin.
Thus comes on the second wine of the château, Pastourelle de Clerc Milon, which has made its place since 2009 in the court of the great of Pauillac. To reinforce the filiation with the Grand Vin, the label will bear, starting from the 2020 vintage, the same codes as the latter.
2021 vintage - Tasting notes
The wine is a glittering, deep garnet red.
The highly distinctive nose exudes intense aromas of ripe black fruit, especially bilberry and blackcurrant, combined with touches of mint.
The stylish and substantial attack leads into a perfectly constructed mid-palate which reveals chocolatey flavours combined with a precisely defined tannic structure.
The finish is long and harmonious.
Blend :
