San Barnaba - Langhe
Friends Roberto, Giovanni and Cisky have just released their first vintage, 2023, and the vision behind the project and the energy they put into it struck us immediately. When we later tasted the wines, we had no doubt that this was something we should represent in Belgium. We are undoubtedly dealing with a rising star in Piedmont. All the vineyards are owned by the three friends and were acquired through Roberto, who works as a vineyard broker. This has already resulted in some fantastic vineyard holdings, which are continuously being expanded.
Work in the field is done with as little intervention as possible, using only copper and sulphur. In the winery, only natural yeast is used and experiments are being conducted with whole-class fermentation. All the wines are fermented in cement tanks and then aged in large, used Slavonian oak barrels. The wines are neither clarified nor filtered, and sulphur is added minimally or not at all.
In 2023, Verduno Pelaverga, Langhe Freisa, Langhe Nebbiolo and their white Derthona Timorasso were produced. From the 2024 vintage, Barolo will also be produced, including from the Monvigliero field, which we are very much looking forward to.
